At our youth group we offer a variety of activities for young people. We usually have a hot meal available (jacket potatoes, tacos, pizza etc) and time in the Sports Hall for team games and challenges.

A normal evening looks like this….

6.30-7pm Closed Sports Hall Session for Years 6-8 only
7-7.30pm Hot Food in Encounter Church Cafe for all ages
7.30-8.30pm Open Youth Club Session in Encounter Church Hall for all ages
8-9pm Open Sports Hall Session for all ages

We also offer separate craft/art activities & projects in No.9 next door between 7-8pm for those interested in crafty things.

We have a staff team supported by Youth Work students and volunteers from WAM or Encounter Church who supervise actvities and support the young people. We follow a safe recruitment process for all staff and volunteers. We use the facilities at Encounter Church including a pool table, table tennis, air hockey and have plenty of space in which young people can hang out with their friends.

Throughout the year we run trips and events, e.g. we regularly go surfing, camping, we’ve been to lasertag, ice skating, played bubble football and been out for a meal.

School Yrs 9-11 Thursdays 6.30pm-8pm

Our girls group is a small group for girls to talk about girl stuff, eat chocolate (and other healthy snacks!), have a chance to meet inspirational women from the community and to build their confidence and self esteem in a safe environment. Each week the group discuss relevant topics (online safety, cyberbullying, healthy relationships, body image etc), play games and have a chance to chat through concerns and difficulties they might be facing.

School Yrs 6-7 Wednesdays 3.30pm-5.30pm

Our wilderness club is a small outdoors activity based group. Through structured outdoor activities and challenges we offer the chance to develop independence and self-reliance alongside working as part of a team, as well as giving them time and space to be children and learn through outdoor play. Our outdoor learning space has a large shelter which will seat 10 around a fire pit, one permanent wigwam and two self-build wigwams, a mud kitchen, a mural wall which the group will design and paint themselves, two vegetable beds- these will be built and tended to by the children.
